Easter Family Fun Weekend raising money for local twins
What do you get if you cross the Easter Bunny with Star Wars Darth Vader? The answer is an egg-citing fun-packed day at Whiteley Shopping Centre, Fareham, raising money for four-year-old local twins Reuben and Zachary who dream of going on a Mediterranean family cruise.
The three day egg-stravagansa is bursting with activities and has been organised by the national children's charity, Dreams Come True, who bring joy to terminally and seriously ill children and young adults. The Easter Family Fun Weekend runs from Good Friday, 18th April to Monday 21st April, excluding Sunday. All of Whiteley's 50 plus stores and restaurants and Meadowside Leisure Centre are supporting the children's charity. The aim is to raise over £3,000 to help the twins go on their dream family holiday.
Reuben and Zachary Smith, who live in Whiteley, were born premature and suffer from a number of complex medical conditions which means they spend a lot of time in hospitals and doctor's clinics. This is why their dream to spend some quality family time together is so important.
Haanagh Smith, the twins mum said : "We feel so overwhelmed that our dream to have a family holiday could come true, we have had a difficult four years and this holiday has given us something so look forward to, and the boys are very excited about the Dreams Come True Easter Weekend."
The egg-citing Easter fundraising event is jam-packed fun for everyone from face-painting to balloon modelling something for all ages and to tantalise the taste buds Krispy Kreme are donating profits from their donuts to keep everyone energised for the hunt the bunny competition. There will also be a special visit from children's entertainer Dave Benson Phillips and model Katie Green. Younger children will have the chance to meet some of their favourite book and TV characters including the Gruffalo. For budding film buffs there will be a rare opportunity to have a photograph taken, for a small donation, with their favourite Star Wars characters.
Marks and Spencer, in Whiteley Shopping Centre, have already raised over £1,200 by organising their staff Christmas Party, including a quiz night.
As if that is not enough - there will also be fairground rides, a bouncy castle and competitions for adults and children to win a variety of amazing prizes including a colouring competition to win a trip to an exclusive party at Hamleys, the world's largest toy store.
