London Volunteer Group Successfully Wrap Christmas
After a tiring day traipsing around the shops looking for Christmas presents, what could be better than a wrapping service for all of your new gifts?
Thanks to the enthusiasm of one of our London volunteer teams, exhausted Christmas shoppers stopping for a break at the Rainforest Café in London not only had a chance to put their feet up over a meal, but also had their presents wrapped whilst they ate, in return for a donation to the charity.
Armed with paper, ribbon and bows, and busier than Santa’s elves in Lapland, the volunteers took purchases in all shapes and sizes and turned them into beautifully wrapped gifts. Soon enough queues of eager customers were forming with their piles of presents and the restaurant resembled more of a grotto!
The volunteers worked extremely hard wrapping away, literally drumming up enthusiasm for wrapping with their own musical instruments! They also did a great job carol singing, creating a Christmassy atmosphere and serenading the public, which brought in further donations and spread lots of festive cheer. The Dreams Come True balloons were also really popular with children out shopping with their parents.
It was a really successful weekend which generated lots of donations for the charity, as well as saving many people the hassle of having to wrap their own presents! A big thank you must also go to the staff at the Rainforest Café who were really helpful and friendly throughout, advertising the wrapping to their customers and giving the volunteers a great spot in the store, right next to the till!
