Jakob Bloch and Shaun Smart are taking part in Marathon Des Sables 2016
Jakob & Shaun have enrolled for a rather hot, sandy and blisters-guaranteed challenge. In April 2016 they will be taking part in the Marathon Des Sables (MDS), nicknamed ‘the toughest footrace on earth”. An ultra-marathon through one of the world’s harshest and inhospitable environments, the Sahara Desert.
The MDS is 6 marathons in 6 days with the longest single stage of 57 miles. In addition to their day jobs as head-hunters, they are pounding roads and off roads around the Hampshire countryside in preparation for the event. A makeshift heat chamber in Jakob’s garage, equipped with treadmill will provide some way of acclimatising them to the 100F desert heat. They have chosen to partner with a local charity ‘Dreams Come True’. A charity established to help fulfil the dreams of children and young people with serious or life limiting conditions in the UK. The MDS challenge is funded by Commodity so all the money that will be raised will be solely for Dreams Come True.
As part of their fundraising activities, Jakob and Shaun will be running on a treadmill in Rams Walk, Petersfield, on Sunday 31st January 2016. Supported by their colleagues and children.
Jakob Bloch, CEO of Commodity Appointments, says,
“Shaun & I are very excited about the challenge ahead of us and we are delighted to have the opportunity of raising funds for such a worthwhile charity. I hope people will be able to come and support us on Sunday”.
To support us, please come along on the day:
Time: 10.00am – 15.00pm
Where: Rams Walk - Petersfield
Quote from Martin Neal – Fundraising Manager at Dreams Come True: “We cannot thank Jakob & Shaun enough for supporting Dreams Come True by competing in the Marathon Des Sables. They will be raising all important funds for serious and life limiting children across Hampshire by making their treasured dreams to come true. We wish them both the best of luck in this very challenging event”.
