The Dreams Come True Ice Hockey Team makes it's final fundraising push
After months of hard work fundraising by the Dreams Come True Ice Hockey Team, we’re now just over a week away from the biggest charity ice hockey tournament in the UK. It was just announced today that the overall fundraising for the 8 charities that form this year’s UK All-Stars Charity Tournament has passed £80,000 – a truly unbelievable and almost incomprehensible amount of money.
As a team, we’ve smashed through milestone after milestone in this year’s fundraising – the initial target of £5,573 (last year’s amount raised +£1) went with a couple of months to spare. Then we set our sights on an ambitious £10,000 and smashed that with 2 weeks to spare… Our final team target was £11,144 – exactly double what we raised last year. And guess what, we smashed that with a week to spare!!
We now sit on £11,215 – can we push for £12,000 by the time the puck drops in our first game? We’re certainly going to try…
The team have worked incredibly hard to raise funds this year through a variety of means. We’ve had an inline hockey tournament, a Race Night, raffles, football cards, sports fans wearing rival shirts and lots more. Everyone has really bought into the charity and why we’re all taking part in this amazing event.
It’s going be a great feeling pulling on our jerseys in Cardiff knowing that we’ve helped to change the lives of some very deserving young people and their families. It’s going to be even more special seeing some of those people sat in the stands cheering us on!
Thanks to everyone who has supported us so far – we hope we have made the charity proud. There’s now just one thing left to do and that’s to go and get our name on the trophy!
You can still donate to the dream team here.
