Dentons Dream Team does Ride London
Ali McCreedy from the Dentons Dream Team shares his Ride London experiences and tips
1. Describe your event and why you chose to do this particular one?
Ride 100 London. Last year I cycled 85 miles and I decided in 2016 I would like to break 100 mile mark. I also was very excited about the opportunity to cycle on closed roads in London on part of the Olympic Route.
2. How long did it take you to train?
I am a regular cyclist and I am also training for a marathon. I therefore have a good fitness base, I did not actually follow a specific programme just continued to do long cycles at the weekend and commuting to work on bike.
3. Describe how you felt in three words
Determined – Nervous - Energised
4. How did you feel on the day/evening?
I had a wonderful experience, the organisers of the event were incredible and the support of the crowds along the way made the day. I didn't stop smiling and I met some brilliant people from all over.
5. Most memorable moment?
So many moments – one in particular when I cycled into Esher where about 20 residents with their carers from an old peoples home were out watching and supporting. I felt an extra boost to get to the end and keep spinning.
6. Any tips for others doing the same thing?
Do not forget to eat and drink on the day. You should not get hungry or thirsty, if you do its too late! Train hard and most of all enjoy the day and be careful.
7. Anything else you would like to share?
This is a brilliant event and I am so pleased I took part in it. Thanks to Katie for all her help in organisation.
