Laura Hamilton hosts Dream Tea baby shower
We kicked off our annual Dream Tea fundraising campaign for 2015 with the help of TV presenter and mum to be Laura Hamilton at her glamorous baby shower.
Laura, our newest Dream Tea campaign ambassador who is expecting her second child, hosted her own Dream Tea baby shower at a glitzy London venue with a host of celebrity friends and family, treating them to a spot of afternoon tea and beauty therapy. Instead of accepting gifts, she encouraged her guests to donate to us. All money raised will go towards helping fulfil the dreams of children with life-limiting conditions, whether that dreams is for a child to have a specialist bike made for them to ride with their friends, or to meet their idol, or even to receive equipment that can help them communicate.
“When I became a Dream Tea ambassador I wanted to be involved as much as possible. Dreams Come True is such a special organisation and I hope to kick start a bumper year of Dream Tea events to raise as much as possible for these children. Everyone deserves the chance to make their dreams come true,” said Laura.
Dream Tea is a fundraising initiative where supporters can turn the age-old British love of afternoon tea into an opportunity to raise some money in support of Dreams Come True. Something Laura hopes to inspire others to do. It can be as big or as small as the host desires. It’s a simple way to raise money, which will make a huge difference to the lives of some very special children. Dream Tea week will take place 15th-21st June but events can be held any time of the year.
“It’s so important for children to have the chance to make their dream come true. It means they can live without regrets and not wonder ‘if only’. When you achieve a dream it makes you feel like you have realised your potential and inspires you to do more,” says television presenter Jasmine Harman.
Former Pussycat Doll and new mum Kimberly Wyatt who attended the baby shower with her four-month-old daughter said, “This afternoon was so inspiring and educational. It’s good to know there are organisation’s like Dreams Come True out there to get involved with and help children.”
Guests were treated to a tea tasting experience from world-renowned tea expert and Dream Tea ambassador Malcolm Ferris Lay who shared his wisdom on how to make the perfect cup of tea. Fellow Dreams Come True ambassador Miranda Gore Browne from BBC’s The Great British Bake Off, dazzled with her baking skills by creating the baby shower cake and gave a master class in biscuit decorating.
Guests who included, Sinitta, Laura Tobin, Kim Tiddy and Hayley Sparkes also had the chance to relax with a lava shell massage, mini hand scrubs and hand massages from beauty brand Fake Bake and a manicure from Sophia Stylionou. Vintage Cosmetic and Mememe Miners along with Fake Bake provided beauty products for some stylish goody bags. Dress My Door also provided a stunning bow for the event.
Sue Fowler, head of marketing and fundraising, spoke of the importance of Laura’s support, “Having ambassadors like Laura who want to get involved and do as much as they can is amazing. She has helped to raise the profile of Dreams Come True and encourage others to host their own Dream Tea - it really does make a huge difference. We thank her for sharing this special day with us and launching our Dream Tea campaign.”
