12-year-old George from Nottinghamshire is better known by another name… Mini Matt Smith! Absolutely in love with all things Doctor Who, George adores pretending he is the assistant of his favourite regeneration of the Doctor, Matt Smith, journeying through space and time in the famous bright-blue TARDIS.
George is living with a number of chronic conditions, including autism and other physical disabilities, but he doesn’t let these stand in his way. Doctor Who is a huge passion of his and George loves being immersed in the sci-fi world, travelling alongside the Doctor. George dreamed of having his own, life-size TARDIS, which would make his space journeys even more real.
With the help of our very generous supporters, we were able to land George’s very own TARDIS straight into his parents’ conservatory!
Whovian George has previously been lucky enough to interview both the past and present cast of the popular BBC show. A cosplayer, George loves to dress as the 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) and he even has his own YouTube channel! Here George created the Fish Finger and Custard Challenge, in honour of the 11th Doctor’s favourite tea-time treat, daring the public to eat fish fingers dipped in custard to raise money for children with other conditions. The challenge went nationwide!
An amazing young man, there is no doubt George deserved his very own TARDIS to make his Doctor Who dream come true. When the day finally came for George’s TARDIS to be delivered, his parents kept it a secret so that it would be a complete surprise when George saw it for the first time. They assembled the giant TARDIS in the conservatory (…which just about fit!) and waited for George to arrive…
Absolutely amazed, George couldn’t believe that that the TARDIS had landed in his own home and said that he was the luckiest boy in the world!
“I am sending you a BIG thank you for being WHOmazing.
LOVE! Mini Matt Smith (AKA George)”. George
“Thank you all so much for making George’s Dream Come True. We are so humbled by all the hard work you guys have put into making this Dream Come True for George.”
George’s Dad Richard
