Just like many five-year-olds, little Megan from Aberdeenshire loves spending time with her family, including her two brothers. Megan has multiple congenital anomalies which means she needs monitoring 24 hours a day, to ensure that she is safe. Her behaviour can be challenging and she is non-verbal, but can walk independently and is very active, keeping her family very much on their toes!

Loving to play and have fun, Megan’s dream was simple – to be able to go on sleepovers and stay away from home, just like her brothers do.

Megan is attached to a feeding pump, so has to ensure that she has a safe space to sleep, in case she tries to climb out of bed in the night and hurts herself. This means that she’s been unable to sleep anywhere other than in her own bed… until her dream portable travel pod arrived!

Sometimes the smallest thing can make a huge difference to a child, and for Megan this was being able to spend time away from home overnight with her family. Megan’s new travel pod provides her with a safe place to sleep, meaning that her family can now go on short breaks together, something that they haven’t been able to do. It also means that Megan’s parents can get a good night’s sleep, knowing their daughter is safe and can’t accidentally hurt herself. Nicknamed the “super dee duper bed” by her brothers, Megan’s new, multicoloured travel pod is decorated with flowers and birds, and even has see-through windows. What an amazing place to sleep!

Travel pod packed and ready to go, Megan went away for a long-awaited weekend break with her family. She had a really great time and loved her trip away, especially playing in all the snow with her brothers. Best of all, now that she has the travel pod and is able to sleep away from home, so many more possibilities have opened up. Next stop – a sleepover at her grandmother’s house!

“What a difference it’s made. Following a successful weekend break in Aviemore, we will now have the confidence to venture further away and for a longer period. Her first sleepover is also booked in at her grandparent’s house. We can’t say thank you enough for making this dream come true not only for Megan but for our whole family.”  Megan’s mum, Karen
