Five-year-old Oliver from Leeds has a significant speech disorder and sensory processing difficulties which makes his behaviour quite challenging. He also requires 24 hour supervision to ensure that he doesn’t become over aroused and harm himself or others. Understandably this has had an exhaustive effect on Oliver’s family, who also struggle to spend time together due to working opposite shift patterns.
Oliver has difficulty expressing himself but, despite this, keeps asking to go on holiday because he is very happy there. He has pointed at Disneyland on TV and said that he really wants to go and see all the characters.
Family outings have become a rare occurrence for Oliver’s family due to his behaviour. Oliver also finds walking long distances painful, and so this limits the places that they can go to. This meant that Oliver’s dream holiday would also be a chance to spend some time together as a family, as well as being a very memorable experience that was sure to bring a smile to everyone’s faces!
At times the holiday was challenging because of all the stimulation at Disney, but Oliver absolutely loved it! He was so excited right from the very beginning of his trip, and couldn’t wait to travel on the Eurostar! Oliver really enjoyed meeting all the characters and collecting signatures in his autograph book, as well as spending some quality time with his family too.
“We would like to say a big thank you to all of you for this wonderful opportunity, we had a lovely time.”
Oliver’s mum, Joan
“Thank you for letting me go to Disneyland and seeing the characters and for giving me lots of fun. Thank you.”
Thanks to your generosity we were able to make Oliver’s Disney dream come true. He went on holiday to
Disneyland Paris with his parents and younger sister and, judging from the smiles, had a fantastic time!
