22-year-old Thomas is a charming, passionate young man who lives in Devon. Born prematurely with life-threatening conditions, Thomas has various conditions that are life-long, including cerebral palsy and learning difficulties and he also uses a wheelchair.

Over the past year Thomas has had a very difficult time with his health, requiring him to spend long spells in hospital. Whilst he was there, Thomas would regularly watch The Jeremy Kyle Show and became a huge fan of the programme.

Jeremy Kyle is a real hero in Thomas’ eyes and Thomas really seems to connect with the way Jeremy tries to sort out people’s problems. Thomas has expressed many times to his mum, Lisa, that one of his biggest dreams would be to meet Jeremy, and especially to attend a live filming of the show.

Thomas’ Jeremy Kyle dream came true when he travelled up to Salford, the home of the BBC and ITV, to stay in the city for two nights and attend the programme’s last day of recording.

Whilst watching the Jeremy Kyle Show, Thomas becomes very interactive; when the guests come on he shouts and whoops because he really sympathises with those that have problems, and feels for himself the emotions that they are expressing. Attending the filming for himself would be an incredibly memorable and moving experience.

When the day finally arrived, Thomas was so overcome with emotion to be participating in a dream that he was literally shaking with excitement! After arriving, Thomas and his family were escorted into the studio and were sat right at the front, directly central to the stage – prime seats! Just before the show started properly, Jeremy came out and asked how everyone was doing. At this point Thomas asked if he could just say that, ‘Jeremy is a legend and he had the greatest respect for him’. Needless to say this got a huge response from the audience, as well as from Jeremy!

The actual recording of the show took just over three hours, but it felt like it went much quicker. Thomas was enthralled by the filming and everything being discussed. Afterwards, he hung back in order to have a few shots inside the studio, before the highlight of the afternoon – meeting Jeremy himself. An overwhelmed Thomas got to shake his hero’s hands and take photos together, a special reminder of his dream day.

“Can I thank you from the bottom of my heart for today, it’s been amazing!”

Thomas (...multiple times!)
