When Abigail was a teenager, she began experiencing problems with her vision and was eventually diagnosed with a brain tumour. Cranial surgery and extensive treatment followed, which thankfully saved Abigail’s sight but left her with long-term health issues, including diabetes, infertility and growth hormone deficiency.
Now in her early twenties, Abigail has recently relapsed and is undergoing further treatment. She is currently doing well but as mum, Helen, explains, the illness has affected her.
“Abigail has not been able to do many of the things she would have liked, which leaves her feeling very isolated. It has also been very daunting and trying for Abigail’s four siblings, who have stood by her side throughout, caring for her and each other.”
Abigail’s dream was to spend a fun weekend in London with the people who have supported her most - her family. She first visited London in 2014 but was still quite unwell following her surgery and really wanted to visit again.
We arranged for the family to visit in December, while Abigail was feeling well and also so they could enjoy London at its Christmassy best. They went sight-seeing, shopping, saw the musical Aladdin, enjoyed Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park and ate in some lovely restaurants.
Helen said: “It was a wonderful weekend and just what Abigail needed.”
“The weekend was great and Aladdin was out of this world, - the best show we’ve ever seen!” Abigail
