16 year old Amy was until 2013 leading a normal, event free life like most teenagers. The sudden onset of a rare neurological disorder changed all that. Within a matter of weeks, Amy could no longer walk, was in hospital for a month, missed her GCSE’s and the first month of college. During the next 5 years she underwent 9 months of chemotherapy and learned to walk again.
Amy, now 21, wrote to us asking for a dream saying “I have always wanted to go to New York to see the sights. I especially would like to go and see a proper show on Broadway. Even before I got ill, I always loved musicals and since becoming ill, music has become an even bigger part of my life.”
Their New York Trip
During their 6 days in New York, Amy and her mum ensured that it was an action packed adventure. They saw two Broadway shows, Harry Potter & the Cursed Child & The Play That Goes Wrong which also included a surprise meeting with the cast along with a backstage tour.
They also visited all the major tourist sites including Grand Central Station, Central Park, Times Square, viewed the New York Skyline from the top of the Rockefeller Centre, walked down 5th Avenue and caught the ferry over to Staten Island and the Statue of Liberty.
A Thank you message from Amy
just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU! For arranging my dream to New York. I had the best time EVER and it’s going to be something I will remember forever! I feel very, very lucky to have gone, and I just wanted you to know how truly grateful I am – from the bottom of my heart,
