Seventeen-year-old Connor lives in Aberdeenshire with his Mum and Dad. Connor has cerebral palsy and global developmental delay. Due to his complex conditions Connor is unable to walk and is wheelchair dependent and therefore restricted as to what he can do and where he can go. He is unable to talk, write or draw which is very frustrating for him. As Connor and his parents cannot communicate his needs properly it can lead to violent outbursts which are very stressful for the whole family. Although Connor is 17 years old his cognitive age is much younger.

Connor’s favourite programme since he was young has been Sesame Street. From an early age he has loved the show and would watch it every day if he could. His favourite characters are Elmo and Grover. We made Connor’s dream come true when he went to visit the set of Sesame Street in New York. As an extra bonus Connor’s mother Stephanie has family who live on the outskirts of New York, so Connor was going to meet his American relatives for the first time whilst they were there.

Whilst still in New York, Martin, Connor’s Dad emailed us the day after they visited Sesame Street.

“We can’t thank you and your team enough for making this happen for Connor. He had a fantastic day and absolutely loved it. So much so that he indicated he would love to stay on Sesame Street.

Everyone at the studio was so friendly and accommodating, it made the day truly special.

It certainly was a dream come true!

The hotel is wonderful and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Everyone has gone out of their way to make sure Connor is happy and if he needs anything we just have to ask.

Thank you again for all your work turning Connor’s dream trip into reality!  I have to say that Stephanie and I had as much fun as Connor did on the visit and felt like kids again.

Thank you so much

Martin”
