Darryll's Mediterranean Adventure

Darryll's family wanted to plan a special holiday for Darryll somewhere exciting, a cruise fit the bill!

Last year we heard from the parent of a very special young man called Darryll who suffers from Downs Syndrome. This has left him with significant learning disabilities and mental impairment.

Darryll’s parents try to give him opportunities for new challenges and Dreams Come True were delighted to help with a cruise around the Mediterranean.

We all had a lovely time on the cruise. Darryll was in his element, it was really a dream time for him, and he loved every bit of it. There was so much for him to do, he would use the swim and splash zone in the morning, while we relaxed in the jaccuzi he helped himself to free ice cream, and the waiter brought him his fizzy drinks.

During the day both Darryll and Samuel could go to the Kids Club onboard while we went ashore. We found they preferred the activities on ship rather than going for long walks in town. The staff at their club were very well trained and experienced and had no trouble entertaining the boys. Each evening we watched the shows which he enjoyed and he was always in the front row.  On one evening we had a tribute band of Queen, Darryll was out in the aisle dancing away before anyone else got up. The Freddy Mercury chap said "look we only have one dancer here, let’s have some more". At the end of the show the guitarist gave him his plectrum. Darryll was very excited with it and he showed to everyone around him. It was such a pleasure to see him interacting with lots of passengers.

We would like to thank you for the opportunity of giving Darryll such a marvellous experience.

Yours Truly
