The tournament is an annual one that first started in 2014 as a coming together of all the teams that take part in the local primary school parents league. We hold the event to celebrate the end of the season and for us all to come together in one space and have some fun before we all break up for the summer holidays. The league itself is quite unique, with over 10 local primary schools having teams involved. We normally play full 11 a-side games every few weeks or so throughout the full school academic year. The average age of the players is 35+, so it’s a very friendly social affair but played in a competitive manner as you would expect. A couple of years ago we introduced mum’s teams into the fold and this has proved really popular and is growing, hopefully they will have as many teams involved as the dad’s in the next couple of years.

This year there was 15 teams that took part, of which 5 of those teams we’re mums teams. Each team has a squad of around 10 players so around 150 players taking part and at least another 200+ children, friends and family who came to support and watch their teams.

We chose Dreams Come True for a couple of reasons, firstly because the charity does such an amazing thing for young children who are desperately in need of a bit of sunshine in their lives. All of us being parents can totally emphasise as to how important this is. Secondly a local sporting hero to us all here in East Sheen namely Rob Young aka Marathon Man UK (http://www.marathonmanuk.co.uk), has Dreams Come True as his chosen charity so we wanted to do it for him too.
