HeadStart makes dreams come true in Manchester
On behalf of Dreams Come True I would like to thank everyone that attended the event and the HeadStart volunteers for their commitment to the project and the charity. The money raised will be able to help make more Dreams happen for so many children with life-limiting medical conditions.
The HeadStart Programme and Dreams Come True have come together to help fundraise and raise awareness!
Over the past few weeks Dreams Come True has been working with HeadStart, a programme developed by The Challenge, giving young people the opportunity to give back to their local community through exciting volunteering opportunities, such as with Dreams Come True. As we begin developing the charity further in Manchester, this was the perfect way to kick things off!
Some of the volunteers, Charlotte, Fatima, Hana, Lynsey, Manisha and Sahar firstly learnt about the magic of Dreams Come True at our Hamley’s event at the Trafford Centre, Manchester. They met dream families at a celebration party filled with Disney Princesses, Spiderman and free ice cream!
The group, full of inspiration, decided that for their event they wanted to plan a Quiz night with coffee, cakes and a raffle, calling on all their friends and family to get involved. The event took place in the perfect venue, the Z-arts centre, which was formed as a ‘creative space for young people’, perfectly setting the tone for the evening.
The evening saw friends and family taking part in a fun but rather difficult quiz put together by Manisha and Brandon which definitely challenged everyone’s general knowledge! It even included a ‘Dreams Come True’ round testing how much friends and family had been listening to the volunteers over the past few weeks, and also Lynsey’s PowerPoint on the charity.
Sahar and Hana put together the perfect spread for the guests as they were treated to gorgeous homemade brownies and red velvet cake! Guests were also lucky enough to be able to win a range of raffle prizes donated by Tesco, Blue Rinse and Beauty in Elysium, as Charlotte and Fatima tried their best to persuade guests to buy as many raffle tickets as humanly possible!
With the whole fundraising event, along with a charity bag pack that Manisha and Charlotte organised, the group managed to raise £292.16 for Dreams Come True!!! This was an undoubtedly a success, not only for raising the money but also getting young people involved with the charity and spreading the word about what we do to so many people!!
