Mike and Andy take on the Great South Run!
Mike and Andy from Portsmouth have often watched the Great South Run go past their doorsteps, this year they decided to pull on their trainers and get in on the action!
Congratulations to Mike and Andy who after years of living in Portsmouth and watching the Great South Run decided to pull on their trainers.
Katie interviewed them after and this is what they had to say;
1. Why did you choose this challenge?
We were approached by our friend who works for Dreams, once she explained the charities mission we wanted to do something to help make a difference....plus the missus (Andy) duped me into it ha ha!
2. Did you have to do any special preparation?
Mike and I (Andy) only decided to enter it about 3 weeks before the run so not really! Got a few runs in the evenings and weekends leading up to it.
3. Describe how you felt in three words
Confident. Accomplished. Happy.
4. How did you feel on the day and once it was completed?
Very glad the sun was shining with hardly any wind, perfect running conditions! After the race, obviously felt glad it was over and I was very happy with my time. Above all, was over the moon that we raised over £400 for DCT Christmas Appeal.
5. Most memorable moment?
Last 100m racing Mike to the finish line, fantastic atmosphere generated from the crowd… awesome!
6. Any tips for others doing the same thing?
Just make sure you get an adequate amount of training in first, and above all ENJOY IT!
7. Anything else you would like to share?
Will definitely do it again for a worthy cause.
