Community Dreams

We are seeking applications for our new Community Dream Projects.

These Dreams are for a project which would deliver a bespoke Dream benefiting a large number of children and young people.

This could be for a Special Needs School where adapted trikes to aid mobility and peer to peer engagement or a sensory room – or a purpose built outside play area at a Community Centre serving children with the medical conditions that qualify for a Dream.

We are seeking applications for our new Community Dream Projects. The Community Dreams will go beyond supporting an individual child with their personal Dream and look to support the wider community.

The Community Dream will need to reflect our current referral criteria to support children and young people aged 5-18 with a serious and life limiting medical conditions and who live in the top 30% areas of deprivation.

The project would benefit a number of children, who maybe go to the same school, community centre or club. Some examples of Community Dreams we're currently fulfilling are a sensory room within a community centre, adapted trikes provided to a special needs school, a sensory toy library within a local community and a sensory garden. We are open and excited to hear any other suggestions for a Community Dreams you would like to apply for.

Dependent on the number of children and young people your Community Dream would support we are able to offer up to £25,000 and make the Dream a reality.

Do you meet the following criteria?

  • Do you support children and young people aged between 5 and 18 years of age?

  • Do you support children or young people who have a serious or life limiting medical condition?

  • If you are a school, do 50% or more of your pupils receive free school meals?

  • If you are a school in Scotland, do 50% of your pupils live in the top 30% deprived areas according to SIMD?

  • If you are a community group, are you located in the top 30% deprived area of the country?

  • You currently don’t have a fundraising department or have a paid member of staff for this role

  • Do you support more than 20 children or young people who fit our eligibility criteria?

Zahra's Dream Was To Feed The Lions!

Zahra was referred for a dream from her school. They told us: “she loves lions, so an experience where she can meet lions close up would be amazing. When speaking to mum it became even clearer how much Zahra loves lions. Ever since they bought a painting of a lion and put it on the wall at home, Zahra has been fascinated.
