Connor sees the Northern Lights Illuminating Dream Connor's dream was to see the spectacular Northern Lights with his family. With thanks to The Kentown Wizard Foundation, Connor’s dream was fulfilled last month. Connor is recovering from Large B-Cell Lymphoma, a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was diagnosed with cancer in September 2016, just shy of his 18th birthday. He was unable to celebrate his birthday due to chemotherapy and long stays in hospital. During this time, a nurse showed him photographs of the Blue Lagoon and Northern Lights in Iceland. Connor was amazed by these images and it was from this moment that he really wanted to see these natural wonders for himself; it gave him something exciting and positive to focus on. Connor’s mother wrote to us last week: “Wow…Thank you all so much for organising Connor’s trip to Iceland. It was amazing. Connor’s wish was to see the Northern Lights and as you can see in the picture, his wish was granted! This trip really gave Connor something to focus on, not only during treatment but also afterwards. We as a family were greatly affected by Connor's illness and it really was so good to spend some time together now Connor is doing so well. It has given us some really fantastic memories as a family and we really don't know how to thank you all enough. Keep up the good work; it really does make a huge difference to families who have been affected by all sorts of illnesses.” Fulfilling a dream has a profound impact on children and young people with serious and life-limiting medication conditions, as well as their families, friends and carers. It provides a feeling of hope, a sense of normality and empowerment, a welcome distraction to difficult treatments and endless rounds of hospital visits.
