George Buckland George Buckland was born in October 2003. He suffers with a number of chronic conditions including Autism, Global Developmental Delay, Talipes, Metatarsus Varus and Persistent Femoral Neck Anteversion and type 3 EDS. However, with all these conditions George is a gregarious character who is full of life and doesn’t let anything stand in his way. George’s passion for Doctor Who and fundraising activities has led him to become a national celebrity dubbed “Mini Matt Smith”. After Dreams Come True fulfilled George’s dream to have a life-sized Tardis, George began fundraising, encouraging the nation to get behind his ‘Fish finger and custard challenge’ following the footsteps of the 11th Doctor Who, played by Matt Smith. Due to Autism, George struggles with food and so by eating just one fish finger covered in custard is a big achievement for the young fundraiser. George documented his challenge on his You Tube channel which has received over 81,000 subscribers with a large portion of viewers from the USA making him internationally recognised. George has pledged to donate his earnings from advert revenue from his You Tube channel. George draws upon a quote from the 11th Doctor which motivates him to raise money and improve the lives of children. “In 900 years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important”. This phrase means so much to George as he shares the same belief, that if we all just cared a little bit more and gave a little bit more the world would be an awesome place. By helping to raise money George has helped create special memories that will last forever.
