It is without doubt that COVID-19 is a once in a lifetime event and our thoughts are with everyone, especially our Dreams Families at this incredibly difficult time.

The principle of a Dream is to allow our amazing beneficiaries that one moment, where they can forget about the troubles they are currently facing, and is one that they and their families get to treasure for the rest of their lives. Current circumstances make this harder than ever to achieve.

It is heart breaking that until things change we to have had to postpone some Dreams and put on hold the rest. We remain dedicated to providing a Dream to every child or young adult who we have promised one to. We don’t know when the restrictions will be lifted, but it is our pledge that when it is safe to do so, we will return to doing what we do best – making Dreams Come True.

The pandemic affects each and every one of us, with an unfortunate result being that our ability to raise money has been severely impacted, and it is now clear that this year we will raise 50% less than anticipated.

That means that we have needed to take a number of actions to control our expenditure, including to the staff team, all of whom have either taken a reduction in pay and/or hours, been furloughed or have left the charity. Whilst we did not want to do this, we have done so, to ensure that we can continue to deliver dreams in the future.

As much as we can, we are still trying to raise funds, work in the communities that we serve, and reach out to our Dreams Families. Life continues, but in a different way, with the key being that as a charity, we are there for not only those who that need our help, but also to all those who give us their help.

I do hope that all our supporters, our Dreams Families and all their loved ones remain safe and well at this difficult time.

Rest assured, we will be making more Dreams Come True, just as soon as we can.

Take care,

Richard Ashton
