R3 Festive Dream Tree

As per R3 tradition, we prefer not to do Secret Santa and ask staff for a voluntary minimum donation of £25. We raise this money on the day of our Christmas Party to give back to those less fortunate who won’t get to enjoy a fun evening with friends and colleagues in a great setting. This year your charitable donations will be given to Dreams Come True, whose mission is to enrich the lives of children and young people in the UK who are living with serious and life-limiting conditions. We would like to raise minimum of £1,500 for a child's dream to come true. 

Together we are passionate about delivering moments of magic and having a lasting impact on those who might not even consider having a dream come true.  The children we support live in the highest areas of deprivation in the country, and are living with a disability, a serious illness, or a life-limiting condition. 

Jack is 12, loves watching YouTube and playing puzzles on his old tablet. He has spina bifida and autism, which presents itself with severe learning difficulties. He used to be able to bum shuffle, crawl and take a few steps with support, but as he grew his hip dysplasia worsened. Earlier this year he had major surgery to restructure his hip and during recovery his quality of life was substantially affected, as he was unable to move out of bed for 2 months. He may need further surgery which is distressing for the family knowing he will have to go through it all again, and they can’t prepare him as he doesn’t understand.

He has been unable to do social activities or school, so his independence has decreased substantially since the surgery. He used to spend a lot of time on his old tablet which recently broke - this has been distressing as it was often his only activity, and will be so when he has his next operation. Jack’s dream is an iPad so he can get stimulation throughout his day, whether at home or in hospital. Dreams Come True are providing Jack with a new iPad and noise cancelling headphones so he can be in his own space and feel calm. It will be exciting for him to receive his iPad and we can’t wait to share the details with you!
