Interim Marketing Engagement Manager

Remote Working with occasional visits (when conditions allow) to the office in Liphook, Hampshire

Either individual or marketing agency

Temporary contract (up to 6 months) with potential to move to permanent

Individual - £30,000 pro rata per annum or Agency - £3k per month

Full-time or part-time hours available (28 – 35 hours)

We’re looking for an Interim Marketing Engagement Manager or suitably qualified marketing agency to join us on a contract (for up to six months) which has the potential to become a permanent position.

Role Purpose

· To drive marketing communications activity through growing the supporter base and the delivery of targeted activities.

· Take ownership of the charities website and social media activities, improve their outputs and ensure content is up to date and relevant.

· Be responsible for all marketing engagement activities including the production of website content, social media updates and email marketing activity.

· To create engaging and relevant marketing content and analyse success of this content according to performance indicators.

· To lead in the delivery of all communications / public relations activity.

· To be responsible for the delivery of the charities individual giving targets through the planning and implementation of a range of engagement activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Digital Activity

· Run social channels on a day to day basis, responding to queries as necessary.

· Develop and optimise digital and social media outputs, including text, images, video and audio to reach wide-ranging target audiences.

· Spot trends and advise on best social media content and new technologies.

· Review online content, making sure it meets users’ needs, is up to date, and is search engine / key word search optimised.

· Create relationships with external websites like bloggers to increase site traffic.

· Run the website on a day to day basis and oversee the management of all technical aspects.

Marketing & Communications

· Lead in the delivery of charity positioning and proposition.

· Work with colleagues and produce marketing content for fundraising activity, corporate partnership activity and for community and volunteer activity.

· Work with colleagues to ensure dreams family story content is ethically sourced and deliver the content required for all marketing and supporter engagement.

Public Relations Responsibilities

· Take the lead in the management and delivery of the charities public relations.

· Responding to requests for information release or press conference from the media or designating a spokesperson or source of information.

· Establishing and maintaining relationships with consumer, community, employee, and public interest groups.

· Writing press releases and other media communications to promote clients.

· Studying the organization's objectives, promotional policies, and needs to build public relations strategies that influence public opinion and promote products, ideas, and services.

Individual Giving

· Lead on engagement activity that retains and grows the active donor base.

· Create and implement individual giving campaigns across all channels - digital, post, email and SMS.


· Recruit and manage external freelancers and agencies as needed to agreed plan and budget.

· Provide quality control support e.g. proof-reading, editing and ensuring content is on brand.

· Co- ordinate, manage and sign off all aspects of design work.

· Supervise and mentor any Volunteers, and / or any other staff that may be assigned to them, at the discretion of line management

· Ensure that all fundraising activities undertaken are legal, ethical and based on good practice guidelines such as those from the Fundraising Regulator, and in particular within GDPR.

· Gain agreement on how success will be measured and report on the results of all activity.

· Undertake any other duties as requested by line management

Person Specification

· Educated to degree level or equivalent with evidence of continuous professional development.

· Evidence of making a significant difference in marketing engagement both on and offline.

· Comfortable in the digital space and evidence of utilising technology to promote and deliver a digital by design approach.

· A self-starter, with experience of charity marketing specifically brand proposition, audience development, and increasing awareness & associated return.

· Visually creative, articulate and highly developed communication skills, resulting in the production of clear, inspirational and persuasive action plans.

· Strong interpersonal skills, a relationship builder with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships and operate at a senior level.

· Proven ability to form positive and productive relationships with internal stakeholders.

· Highly organised, with excellent time management skills, the ability to prioritise own workload and multi task to meet targets / deadlines.

· Good analytical and problem solving skills.

· Proficient with email and marketing software - experience of using CRM systems and proficient using content management systems to update website and social media platforms.

· Willing and able to work with / manage a number of different external suppliers with the ability to meld disparate outputs into a cohesive plan.
