An update from our CEO, Richard Ashton

We are deeply concerned about the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and its impact on our beneficiaries, volunteers, staff and loved ones.

Our whole purpose is to deliver dreams to vulnerable young children and adults with serious and life-limiting conditions in ways and that puts their health and wellbeing first. However, with the current spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and with our beneficiaries categorised as being at high risk, we have made the decision not to continue any activity that puts either them or their family members at undue risk.

Following government guidelines for organisations that work with children and young people with underlying health conditions, we will be temporarily stopping all visits to our dream families from staff or volunteers.

Additionally, and with heavy hearts, we have suspended the delivery of all dreams with the exception of those which are for equipment or urgent in nature.  We are in contact with all the families impacted by the above actions and are committed to the principle that whilst their dreams may have been postponed, they have not been cancelled and will be rearranged as soon as it is safe to do so.

There are a number of uncertainties with regards to our fundraising activity with our generous supporters facing equally difficult times, events being postponed or cancelled and companies having to review their own plans. We are reviewing our fundraising activities and putting in place plans to make sure that we can continue to deliver our core activities.

However, we receive no government funding and rely on the generosity of our supporters to deliver dreams. Put simply, without their support there would be no dreams.

The costs of postponing and rebooking dreams are considerable and we estimate that our fundraised income could be affected by as much as 50% in 2020. We appreciate that priorities for everyone have changed, but if you are able to support us please do so. Now, more than ever, we need your help to continue to deliver dreams to the amazing families that we help.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
