Students at Bristnall Hall Academy have recently enjoyed an incredible theatre experience at the Birmingham Hippodrome provided by Dreams Come True Charity.

The theatre experience for Bristnall Hall Academy was a shared dream, where a large number of children and young people feel the benefits of one dream. The trip took place on Wednesday 6th of April 2022 and saw 74 young people from the school and 20 of the staff, all go and see Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the Birmingham Hippodrome.

Bristnall Hall Academy is an all-inclusive mainstream secondary school based in Sandwell where students are disadvantaged. The academy serves a highly diverse community, with 20% of their students being SEND (Special educational needs and disability). Trips like this don’t come around often for the SEND students at Bristnall Hall Academy, making it a once in a lifetime opportunity that the school believes will leave a lasting blueprint on their childhood and that the experience may promote a love of the arts in their adult lives.

As part of their application to Dreams Come True Charity, the school outlined that they believe every child should have the opportunity to experience the Arts industry regardless of their socio-economic background.

Teachers told the charity that the trip will inspire and enthuse students, providing precious memories of an evening out with their peers enjoying the theatre, and that it will also improve their wellbeing and their confidence in leaps and bounds.

Dreams Come True recently received this feedback from the school, and are so pleased to hear the trip was a great success.

"Our SEN department would like to greatly thank you for donating and paying for all the cost of this fabulous trip. The students had a fabulous day out. For many this was the first time they had gone to see a musical at the theatre. This also gave the opportunity for some of our students to attend who would normally not come on trips because of the cost. Thank you once again we are very grateful."
